Howells Farm
CONCEPTUAL BRAND DESIGN | MERCH DESIGN
Since 1975, Howells has been the go-to family farm in Niagara, famous for their giant pumpkins and fun fall displays. I couldn’t resist creating a vintage-inspired anniversary logo suite for their 50th year in business!
It all started when I was looking up this year's ticket prices at Howells farm. It's always such a blast going there, but as a designer, I immediately noticed that they're running with two VERY different logos. No consistency. Looks like they're made in Canva (aka generic with no personality). For a brand that’s been around 50 years, their visuals don’t reflect the charm, warmth, and history that make Howells so special.
My goal was to celebrate Howell’s heritage in a way that captures their charming personality and timeless small-town spirit, while keeping the brand warm and approachable for today’s audience. It’s the kind of nostalgia that feels like the hardworking grandparent you’ve always looked up to.
My design for the arched Howells Farm logo was inspired by the hand-painted lettering on their vintage truck (the one people love taking photos with!) It felt like the perfect opportunity to bring new life to something their audience already knows and loves.
To complement the classic logo, I designed a more expressive alternate version, (perfect for merchandise!) that captures Howells playful, family spirit. That script typography with the winding branch and leaves was all drawn by hand. Natural imperfects left in to evoke the small-town, handmade feel.
If Howells refreshed their branding with mine, it would:
